Thrift shop bounty!

I went thrifting again. I found some neat stuff too. I didn’t get pictures of everything before I put it in storage unfortunately. I should be moving into my own apartment soon, so I can share then. I went to 6 different ones today in three different towns. I also got something out of the recycling when I was dropping mine off. It was an all day adventure! Enjoy!

I got a pair of these awesome retro lamps. Perfect shape. They were originally $20 for the pair, but lamps were half off today. I got them pair for $10. They shades don’t go with them at all! I’ll have to find shades that work with them. The shades that came with them were in good shape, so I’ll hang on to them for now until I can find ones that look better. They would look good with lamps that were more victorian and intricate. I just adore these!

I’m obsessed with ginger jars. This one is quite large. It didn’t have a lid, but I thought I could use it for a vase or put some cool reeds in it or something. If I find a black lid that fits it one day even better! I just couldn’t pass it up for $3. It’s about twice the size of a gallon of milk if that gives you any reference. This is the biggest one I’ve gotten so far.

I got these two shirts and pair of shoes also. They will be good for Spring.

I think this candle stick is grand. I love all the ornate details. Needs cleaned up some, but it’s not broke anywhere like usual. every time I see candle sticks at thrift store with all the little pieces like this they are broke somewhere. I paid $2.50 for it. It’s quite hefty too actually.

I found this material also. It’s foot wide pieces that are around five feet long. There was four of them for 50 cents each. Not sure what I will do with them just yet. I loved the colors though.

This is a vintage globe for a light fixture that would of hung from the ceiling. It’s quite large actually. It’s atleast 18 inches across maybe more. It has three holes in it where you would of fastened it to the fixture. I’m going to get some chain and use it as a bird bath though. I’ll bring it inside during the colder month’s though. It’s very thick glass.

I got these five books also. Three are cook books. The other two are regular books. The one cook book I have been searching for. “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” by Julia Childs, Louisette Bertholle, and Simone Beck. Even had the dust cover in decent shape. It’s the one with the blue spine. Another of the books I got that I found interesting was called “Living on the Earth” Very intriquing cover.

This is the “Living on the Earth” book. The cover was just so interesting. The inside is just like the cover. Little doodles and the words look hand written not typed. It just looked like something I needed in my book collection.

Here’s my recycling center find. I went to drop off my plastic stuff and left with these three bottles that were sitting on top of the glass stuff. They are Tequila bottles, but I loved the shape. Not sure what I will do with them just yet. My mom had a good idea to use them for flavored oil. They Tequila spelled like pretty good Tequila, so I might have to buy and bottle to try. Not a big Tequila drinker, but I like to cook with it. The glass even has little  bubbles in it.

I found other stuff, but forgot to get pictures before I put it in storage.

Much love!!!

Knock, knock….Who’s there?

Let me tell you a little bit of why I bought this amazing door knocker. I’m moving back to Arkansas at the end of July. I plan to build myself a little cottage/cabin. I will be using as much reclaimed and recycled materials as possible. I want to as gentle to nature as I can. I’m going to grow and raise as much of my own food as possible. I’ve been collection interesting pieces like this for awhile to use in my future home. I’ve been eyeing  this knocker for awhile now. I’ve been so in love with her. She just speaks to me and is so welcoming. What better way to welcome people to my home.
